In the narration of David vs Goliath, David the underdog wins. A heartwarming story about the small guy defeating a much bigger and stronger adversary. Good for him. The reality of every parallel universe is Goliath just chews David’s head off.
That’s how we feel right about now. There are 2847 registered “Sparkle” trademarks worldwide, and who knows how many more Sparkle uses, we’ve received accidental support email for anything from cleaning products and local laundry outfits, to digital games and physical toys, and even a major Nigerian bank! Anyway 10 years into Sparkle our very own Goliath decided to pick on us, we tried to fight back, but ultimately we have been forced to change.
While lawyers individually can be nice people (so I hear!), and some legal expenses are necessary and inevitable, we also don’t want to waste too much money on the lawyer category, because some fights are only going to feed lawyers, and we prefer investing it on improving our product, your product.
With a heavy heart today we are announcing that we bid farewell to the Sparkle name, and are going to be known as Sitely.
The name has changed, we’ll always have sparkles in our hearts. But the spirit is intact and we are charging forward on the mission of bringing visual web design to everybody with Sitely!
Just to make this extra clear, it’s the same people here, same company, same prices, same licenses. Only the name has changed.
And Speaking of Sitely, version 5.6 is awesome. It’s by far the most stable version so far, but in addition to a slew of fixes we have some very nice nice-to-haves for you:
You can now place "normal" popups inside layout blocks or groups, allowing them to move along with the content.
A fill/fit grid gallery mode can now be applied to all images simultaneously for greater consistency.
Gallery images now have an option to replace individual images directly.
Double-clicking the bottom handle of a text frame resizes the text box to perfectly fit its content.
Full-width Lottie animations are now supported for enhanced visuals.
The date Smart Field includes more format options to suit diverse needs.
A convenient Copy Link option has been added for easier link sharing.
It’s now possible to add links to the "current" page, useful for links visible across all pages in your project.
