Introduction
Using Sitely
Elements
How to
Adding a page
To add a new page, simply click on the "+" (plus) button located at the bottom of the pages sidebar on the left of the interface. You have the option to add either a new page or a section, which is essentially a collection of pages.
Sections primarily help organize your content, but they can also contribute to visual consistency by using element visibility to display certain elements or groups of elements within a section. For more detailed information on this feature, refer to the documentation about the arrange panel.
Renaming and Managing Pages
You can rename a page either by clicking on its name in the pages sidebar or by editing it in the page panel on the right of the interface.
Deleting and Duplicating Pages
To delete a page, select its thumbnail and then click the "−" (minus) button at the bottom of the pages sidebar. Alternatively, you can duplicate the currently selected page by clicking the center button at the bottom of the sidebar.
Reordering Pages
You can easily change the order of pages by dragging and dropping the page thumbnails to their desired locations within the pages sidebar.
Pages, Sections, and Menus
When you create a new menu, it automatically adds and removes items corresponding to the pages by default. Top-level pages and sections serve as the main items of the menu, linking directly to pages and the latter acting as sub-menus with links to pages within the corresponding section. For a more comprehensive understanding of menu elements, please refer to the Menus section.
Page Headers and Footers
Typically, websites have a consistent header across all pages. You can achieve this by placing header elements in a layout block or group and then using visibility options to ensure the header appears on every page. Similarly, you can add footers in the same way, with the added option to make them follow the bottom of the page.
Privacy Page Management
Enabling privacy options automatically adds a privacy page to your page outline. This page can only be deleted from the privacy settings. The privacy page hosts the privacy banner for editing purposes; while you edit the banner on this page, it will appear on all pages of your website.
Importing Existing Pages
Sitely doesn't internally handle HTML, so it doesn't load existing pages. However, it can import their layout, text, and images. To do so, open "Import Page" from the "Insert" top-level menu, enter the address of your old site, or load it from disk, and start the import process. Sitely will scan the page, extract layout information, and copy text and images into a newly created page. For importing a full website, create a new project, enter the site address, and click Import.
Importing Designs from Sketch or Figma
You can also add a page by copying and pasting a design from Sketch, requiring the installation of the Sitely plugin for Sketch. Similarly, sending a design from Figma to Sitely requires the Sitely plugin for Figma.
In addition to importing pages, you can also choose to use one of Sitely’s pre-made templates to get you started. The templates are presented when you first open Sitely. Simply choose one and Sitely will set up a base site ready for you to edit.
